Hello. I enjoy playing golf and doing karate.

You mostly will find me making slight improvements to articles on naval history recently I added the preceding and succeeding class to at least six articles.

Welcome to WikiProject Ships on the English Wikipedia! We are a group dedicated to improving Wikipedia's coverage of topics related to ships of all types and eras. The project scope spans both naval and civilian ships, and articles on individual ships, ship classes, and other ship related topics are welcome.

About us

[edit]

WikiProject Ships is a group with a common interest in ships of all types and an international collection of participants. If you would like to join us, please feel free to sign up and help with ship articles. And don't worry – we get along more like an America's Cup match than Monitor and Merrimack (left). The project was featured in the 28 June 2010 issue of The Signpost.

As of 6 November 2024, there are 54,742 articles within the scope of WikiProject Ships, of which 337 are featured and 1,914 are good articles. This makes up 0.79% of the articles on Wikipedia, 3.03% of all featured articles and lists, and 4.72% of all good articles. Including non-article pages, such as talk pages, redirects, categories, etc., there are 174,358 pages in the project.

Getting started

The sidebar on this page contains links to all project documentation, including our guidelines, tools and templates, and a resource list.

Content

[edit]

To improve ship-related content throughout Wikipedia, the project uses Assessment and Review processes. Ship-related content is tagged by including the Project Banner on each article's discussion page.

Content that is of outstanding quality can be nominated for consideration under one of the featured content processes: articles, pictures, lists, sounds, topics, and portals.

"Did you know?" articles

[edit]

We have had more than 800 articles featured on Wikipedia's main page in the "Did you know?" section...

...and one of them is featured there recently, on 18 December 2018.

Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Blue Origin landing platform ship, which was recently created. The fact was

... that Amazon founder Jeff Bezos aims to land rockets on a moving ship?

Perhaps the new article on Ship arrest might be made into a useful and interesting DidYouKnow? item?
I know I was super surprised to learn that an "arrest warrant" is even possible for a ship (see this WikiProject's Talk page); but I learned from knowledgeable ship people. Perhaps worth getting this odd fact out even further. N2e (talk) 05:49, 7 August 2020 (UTC)
